Restrictions on industrial operations in specified areas extended

MOEFCC has released the Environment Protection 5th amendment rules which specify Prohibitions and restrictions on industrial operations as well as the location of industries and the carrying on processes and operations in different areas till 30th June 2022 

        In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 and section 25 of the Environment
(Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986), the Central Government hereby makes the following further
amendment in the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986, namely:

        1. Short title and commencement.-
(1) These rules may be called the Environment (Protection) Fifth Amendment Rules, 2021.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986, in rule 5, in sub-rule (3), in clause (d), “for the words,
letters and figures 31st December, 2021, the words, letters and figures 30th June, 2022 shall be
substituted”.

Note : The principal rules were published vide S.O. 844 (E), dated the 19th November, 1986 and was last
amended vide notification number S.O. 2346 (E), dated the 16th June, 2021.
