The Ministry of Commerce & Industry releases the Boiler Accident Inquiry Rules, 2021 under the Boiler Act 1923. As per the rule, the key legal provisions are:
(1) Carrying out a preliminary investigation on receipt of an accident to a boiler
(2) If any fatality occurs then the Chief Inspector shall forward a report to the technical advisor in form ‘A’
(3) Constitution of an inquiry committee
(4) Specified procedures to follow during the inquiry
(5) Banning the usage of boiler until the inquiry is completed
(6) Inquiry committee shall be constituted within 15 days of incident & inquiry shall be conducted within 45 days of accident from the chief inspector.
