Introduction
The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change has issued a notification regarding genset regulations. This notification, which applies to all fuels, revises the power category slabs from three to five. According to the general conditions of the notification, genset engines and gensets adhering to the old standards can only be supplied until June 30, 2023.
Amended Provisions
The amended notification introduces a proviso in the general conditions, granting an exemption from the revised standards for all genset and genset engine manufacturers. This exemption allows for the supply and manufacture of gensets and genset engines up to June 30, 2024, provided that purchase orders were issued on or before June 30, 2023.
Action Required
In light of this, the following steps are required:
1. Submission of Orders: All genset and genset engine manufacturers and suppliers must submit details of confirmed purchase and supply orders received from end users or their suppliers by June 30, 2023, to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) before July 31, 2023.
2. Publication of Orders: These orders must also be published on the website of the respective genset and genset engine manufacturers by July 31, 2023.
3. Compliance and Verification: CPCB will ensure that only those manufacturers and suppliers who comply with the specified conditions and the terms of the notification benefit from the exemption.
Conclusion
The notification and its amendments signify a critical update in genset regulations. Manufacturers and suppliers must adhere to the outlined conditions to leverage the extended compliance period. This step reinforces the commitment to environmental standards while accommodating transitional adjustments.
