Show-cause notice to be issued for submission of faulty impact assessment reports

An office memorandum regarding show-cause notice to be issued for submission of faulty impact assessment reports by accredited groundwater consultants was released by The Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Central Ground Water Authority. As per the office memorandum, the key highlights are:

  1. Recently it has been observed that reports being prepared by accredited consultants for the purpose of grant of NOC for ground water abstraction are not of acceptable quality as they contain misleading information thereby violating code of conduct as specified in accrediation policy of CGWA.
  2. Further if any consultant prepares such misleading or unprofessional reports then a show-cause notice shall be issued to them by the respective authority.
  3. In case of negligence by the consultant actions might be taken for delisting of the consultant.
