QHSEalert Legal Library

The list of authorized solvent recovery units in AP 2021 has been updated by Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board.

Solvent recyclers remove soils, debris and oils from used cleaning solvent through distillation, and allow for reuse of the cleaning solvent. A solvent recovery system for used solvents can reduce solvent purchases by over 95% and reduce chemical waste disposal cost by over 90%.

Solvent recovery is the process of extracting useful materials from waste or by-product solvents generated during the manufacturing process.

A common recovery method is solvent distillation systems, but liquid-liquid extraction, absorption systems, film evaporation, crystallization, and membrane separation can also be used, depending on the application.

Solvent recycling and recovery minimizes disposal costs, fresh chemical purchases and storage costs. When you’re finished with your solvent, it is categorized as hazardous waste. Hazardous waste is difficult to dispose of – recycling and recovering your hazardous waste eliminates the need for disposal.
