The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change has released ERP for Tyre Producers under the Hazardous & Other Wastes (Management & Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2022 (21.07.2021) and added “Extended Producer Responsibility” for waste tyre management.  According to the provision of this legal obligation, the target for recycling of waste rubber/ tyre has been set under extended producer responsibility. Similar to Extended Producer Responsibility for E-waste & Plastic Waste, this EPR for tyre producers is set. The producer can purchase a certificate of their liability for compliance purposes with certain terms and conditions. Failure to comply with such legal provisions by producer, recycler or others are liable to pay the environmental compensation cost. Date of Release – 21.07.2022

Applicable – Manufacturer or sale of new tyre, trading of new tyre with own brand (manufactured by others), sale of imported tyre, import of vehicle fitted with new tyre, automobile manufacturer importing new tyre for use in the vehicles, import of waste tyre
