Simplifying Producer Registration for Used Oil Management
Introduction
In line with the recent amendments to the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2023, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has introduced a more efficient and streamlined process for producer registration on the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Portal for used oil management. This comprehensive system enables producers to fulfill their regulatory obligations with ease, ensuring compliance with environmental standards. This blog provides a detailed overview of the step-by-step registration process for producers, importers, and manufacturers.
Steps for Producer Registration
The process begins with signing up on the EPR Portal for used oil. Producers, including manufacturers and importers, must provide their GST number, company details, and authorized person information to create an account. The system auto-fetches details from the GST records, simplifying data entry. After signing up, producers fill out section-wise information, such as procurement and sales data, while uploading necessary documents like GST certificates and PAN cards.
The registration fee varies based on the quantity of oil sold, with slabs ranging from ₹25,000 for sales under 5,000 MT to ₹10,00,000 for sales over 1,00,000 MT. Once the application is submitted, it is processed by CPCB within 21 days.
Conclusion
By providing a clear and structured registration process, the CPCB ensures that producers comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for used oil management. This initiative promotes accountability, transparency, and efficient tracking of used oil disposal. It fosters sustainable practices, reduces environmental risks, and encourages proper recycling methods, aligning with national sustainability goals and promoting a circular economy within the oil sector.
